Shanghai's Suzhou Creek meets the Huangpu River — and this walk follows it all the way. Starting at Xizang Road Bridge and finishing at the Bund with the Lujiazui skyline across the water, this is a continuous 4K HDR walking tour of Shanghai, filmed at 60fps with binaural audio. No cuts, no music, no commentary — just the city at street level: steel truss bridges, riverside promenades, an old post office tower with a clock, and the sound of Shanghai walking past. 📍 ROUTE Xizang Road Bridge → Zhejiang Road Bridge → Suhewan MixC World → Fujian Road Bridge → Henan Middle Road Bridge → Shanghai Post Museum → Sichuan North Road Bridge → Zhapu Road Bridge → Waibaidu Bridge → Monument to the People's Heroes → The Bund → Lujiazui skyline Distance: roughly 4–5 km, walked at filming pace Shot in 4K 60fps HDR (Rec.2100 HLG) with binaural audio ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 Xizang Road Bridge — starting point 07:00 Zhejiang Road Bridge 09:00 Suhewan MixC World 20:00 Fujian Road Bridge 26:00 Henan Middle Road Bridge 34:00 Shanghai Post Museum 40:00 Waibaidu Bridge 47:00 Monument to the People's Heroes 48:00 The Bund 49:00 Lujiazui skyline 🏛️ WHAT YOU'LL SEE Xizang Road Bridge — Where the walk begins. One of the many road bridges crossing Suzhou Creek, linking the Nanjing Road shopping district on the south bank with the Jing'an side to the north. Zhejiang Road Bridge — An 1908 steel truss bridge and one of the oldest surviving steel bridges in Shanghai. Its distinctive fish-belly truss was lifted out whole and restored in 2015. Suhewan MixC World — An open-air shopping and cultural complex on the north bank, opened in 2022. It incorporates the restored Tianhou Palace and the Shenyu Li lane-house block — a good place to pause for coffee. Fujian Road Bridge — A quieter crossing through the old warehouse districts, where the creek still feels like a working waterway rather than a postcard. Henan Middle Road Bridge — Rebuilt with classical stone balustrades, it sits directly beside the old General Post Office and marks the point where the creek gets busy again. Shanghai Post Museum — Housed in the former Shanghai General Post Office, built in 1924 — a grand Baroque-flavoured building with a clock tower. Inside is a museum of postal history; check current opening hours, as it typically closes on Mondays. Sichuan North Road Bridge — Look north for Broadway Mansions, a 1934 Art Deco landmark that once dominated this waterfront. Waibaidu Bridge — Opened in 1908, China's first all-steel riveted bridge. The name means "free crossing": it replaced the old toll bridge, which charged pedestrians to cross. In 2008 the entire span was dismantled, restored, and floated back into place. Monument to the People's Heroes — Three rifle-shaped columns at the point where Suzhou Creek meets the Huangpu River, completed in 1993. It stands in Huangpu Park, Shanghai's first public park, opened in 1868 — and, until 1928, closed to Chinese visitors except as servants of foreigners. The Bund — A 1.5 km promenade lined with 52 buildings in Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical and Art Deco styles, most of them built in the 1920s and 1930s as banks and trading houses. The classic skyline view faces Lujiazui across the river. Lujiazui — Shanghai's financial district on the east bank: the Oriental Pearl Tower (468 m), Jin Mao Tower (421 m), Shanghai World Financial Center (492 m) and Shanghai Tower (632 m), the tallest building in China. 🎧 AUDIO Recorded with a Zoom H1essential and custom DIY binaural microphones, worn at the ear canal entrance, so headphones will give you the most immersive result. 🎥 GEAR Camera: Insta360 Luna Ultra Audio: Zoom H1essential + DIY binaural mics Frame rate: 4K 60fps | Colour: HDR (Rec.2100 HLG) If you enjoyed walking with me, subscribe — new walks around Shanghai every week. #Shanghai #WalkingTour #4KHDR
