Life is loud. Your phone goes off. Someone needs something. There's another bill to pay. Another person online who seems further ahead than you. Another reason to feel like you're falling behind. Wake up. Check your phone. Go to work. Come home. Scroll. Sleep. Repeat. “Background Noise” is about how easy it is to become completely consumed by everything happening around us. We're more connected than we've ever been, yet somehow it can still feel incredibly lonely. We compare our worst days to someone else's best fifteen seconds. We chase money, success, attention, relationships, and whatever else we convince ourselves will finally make us feel like we've made it. Then we get there... And the finish line moves again. Sometimes we're so busy trying to keep up with life that we never stop long enough to ask where we're actually going. And maybe that's part of the problem. Because underneath all that noise, there's another Voice. It doesn't tell you you're behind. It doesn't measure your worth by your paycheck, followers, accomplishments, mistakes, or where you thought you'd be by now. It's quieter than everything competing for your attention. But sometimes the quietest voice is the one worth listening to. I think there are times when we ask God why He isn't speaking when, in reality, we haven't given ourselves a quiet moment to listen. Maybe He didn't stop talking. Maybe we just stopped listening. “Background Noise” is a reminder for me as much as anyone else to occasionally put the phone down, stop comparing, stop chasing, and leave a little room for silence. The world probably isn't going to get quieter. Our responsibilities aren't going to disappear. But maybe we can get better at deciding which voices deserve our attention. This music isn't about views, money, recognition, or fame. I just hope these songs reach people wherever they are and maybe get someone to stop for a second, think, and listen. Turn it down. Let it fade. Leave a little room for something greater than the noise. Not for the views. Not for the fame.
