Odunayo Onafuye leads member services and demand partnerships at the Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA). Here, Odunayo reflects on what the Power Sector Regulation in Africa course revealed about how regulators think. The highlight was drawing lessons from across the continent and seeing electrification through the regulator’s eyes. The course gave Odunayo a view of how regulators approach electrification, tariff design and the role of mini-grids, along with the principles that guide how they regulate them. Back at AMDA, that understanding will help members shape tariffs that meet regulatory requirements and identify viable sites that can attract the capital they need.
