kala pahar | 2025 #কালাপাহাড় #কুলাউরা #moulvibazar #highest_point_of_northern_bangladesh Kala Pahar is the highest peak in northern Bangladesh. Located near Robir Bazar in Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar District, it is about 3–4 hours of trekking from Azgarabad Tea Estate. The peak is also accessible from the Rajki Tea Estate, near Fultola Bazar in Juri Upazila. The hill range containing Kala Pahar is locally known as the Longla Range. Kala Pahar is the local name for the highest peak, though it is also known as Hararganj Pahar according to the Bangladesh Geographic Society. In Bengali, "pahar" means "hill." Situated in the northeastern part of the country, around 60% of the range lies in Bangladesh, with the remaining portion extending into the northern Tripura state of India. In Tripura, the hill is known as Raghunandan Pahar. At the foot of this hill lies the famous ancient religious archaeological site of Unakoti in India. Kala Pahar rises to about 1,100 feet above sea level. In November 2015, a local adventure group, BD Explorer, explored the peak and measured the highest point as 1,098 feet using a Garmin handheld GPS. During autumn, if the sky is clear, one can see the blue waters of Hakaluki Haor—the largest haor in Bangladesh—from the summit of Kala Pahar. Several Khasi settlements are located near this hill, including Nunchora Punji, Panaichora Punji, Putichora Punji, and Baigonchora Punji. This location has become increasingly popular among nature lovers as an adventure day trip destination.
