After 71 days touring Spain and Portugal in our motorhome, our winter adventure has come to an unexpected end.
In this final video of the trip, we explain why we decided to head home earlier than planned, as the weather across Portugal and southern Spain began to deteriorate.
Winter touring in the Iberian Peninsula can be fantastic, but January is also one of the wettest months, with around 80–100mm of rainfall and up to 10–14 rainy days across Portugal and southern Spain. Temperatures typically sit between 8°C and 16°C, with only around 5 hours of sunshine per day.
During our trip, a series of storms swept across the region bringing heavy rain, flooding and winds over 150 km/h, causing travel disruption and damage across Portugal and Spain.
Rather than sit through weeks of bad weather, we made the decision to start heading home.
We look back at some incredible highlights from the trip including:
📍 Gibraltar
📍 Seville
📍 Medina
📍 And some of our favourite moments along the way
We also break down the real costs of travelling for 71 days in a motorhome, sharing exactly what we spent on campsites, fuel, food and more.
If you're planning a winter motorhome trip to Spain or Portugal, this video should give you a realistic idea of what to expect — both the amazing parts and the challenges.
