Thomas became a Master Sommelier in 2012 and the first Black American to earn the title. His career has taken him through some of Seattle’s prominent restaurants, national wine education, and ultimately Auburn University, where he serves as Master Sommelier in Residence at 1856 – Culinary Residence. This isn’t a conversation about making wine more complicated. Thomas goes the other direction.
