If I locate the source, I’ll edit here! You’ll need either two round cookie cutters of different sizes or a doughnut cutter to get the right shape. Ingredients: 2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon nutmeg (and/or cinnamon) 1 cup buttermilk 2 large eggs 4 Tablespoons butter, melted Oil for frying – I used 2 inches of Canola Oil in a large frying pan Glaze: 2-3 cups confectioner’s sugar 2-3 Tablespoons milk 1 teaspoon vanilla In a large bowl, whisk dry ingredients together: flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt, and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir just to combine, do not overmix. Dough is sticky. Cover dough with plastic wrap and chill the dough for one hour. Get a floured board and roll out to about ½ inch thick Use doughnut cutter or 2 round cookie cutters (one for larger outer ring and one smaller for the doughnut hole) Heat 2 inches of oil to 375F. I don’t have a thermometer so what I do is just put a tiny piece of the dough in the oil when I think it is warm enough and if it sizzles vigorously I know it is ready to go! Carefully slip doughnuts in hot oil and few at a time. Watch carefully and flip over when golden brown (30 seconds-1 minute) Transfer to a papertowel lined plate. Cool 10 minutes before glazing. Glaze steps: Mix confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla and add more milk/sugar to get a bit of a runny consistency. I had to play around with the amounts to get the right consistency to dip the top of each doughnut in. I also made doughnut holes and dipped in the glaze as well. Another great topping is dipping the doughnut in powdered sugar…my favorite! Have with a cup of coffee for full immersive experience 😊 Thanks for watching! I’ll see you in the next one!
