TOTAL STATS: 9 G, 11.1 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 2 HR, 14 K, 2 BB. 2 Saves
A compilation of all of Cade Smith's 157 pitches thrown in this year’s postseason. They all come from Baseball Savant, where i downloaded every one of them from the home broadcast perspective, which is the default. (Note that this is also why they are cut weirdly.) If you think sticking to the pitcher's team's broadcasts or the opposing team broadcast throughout a whole compilation would be better, or if you wanna request a player in a certain timeframe, then let me know! Also let me know if i've made any mistakes please!!
a few others stats stuff if you care: 0/4 inherited runners scored, .105/.150/.263 slash against, 31.0 Whiff%, 89.2 average exit velo, 0.61 aLI, 0.450 WPA, 71.3 STR% (112/157), 2.93 RE24
Lots of cool Statcast info can be found through the Baseball Savant search engine. From my understanding, Run Value is a metric used on the website that is a way to assess a player’s contributions, each and every pitch a batter sees or a pitcher throws adding to that count over any timeframe. In a pitcher’s case, Run Value tries to assess a pitcher’s run prevention based on their performances. Maybe you were wondering how good Cade Smith’s pitches were at preventing scoring this postseason? You can change the season type to “postseason”, put Cade’s name in the “pitchers” query, add that you’d like to see “Pitcher RV / 100 (meaning run value per 100 pitches) either context-neutral or leveraged (context-neutral assesses the pitches themselves, leveraged takes into account the situation the pitcher was in)” by checking its checkbox under the “Run Values” section through the “Included Stats” box, and then change the way pitches are grouped in the "grouped by" query to Player & Pitch Type. Once you press search, it should show you the answer to that question. Here's a direct link to it, which you can also use as a starting point to learn how to use the search queries to find lots of other interesting info: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statca...
(You will have to highlight the link to copy then paste it into your search bar... if you don't want to follow the link, the answer is his 4 seamer got a run value 2.78 per 100 pitches (2.78 RV/100), his splitter got 0.68 RV/100, and his sweeper got -0.83 RV/100. These RVs are weighted on leverage. sorry if you don't care about this advanced metric stuff i still think they are cool lol)
The clips are cut weirdly because that's how Statcast clips them automatically. In the future, especially I do try making compilations for starters, I'll probably see if I can find sources to extract full half-innings from.
