안녕하세요, 히든서울입니다. 오늘은 성북구 보문동의 오래된 골목을 걸어봅니다. 보문동은 서울 도심 가까이에 있으면서도 오래된 주택과 한옥, 좁은 골목길이 비교적 많이 남아 있는 동네입니다. 이번 산책에서는 보문동의 골목 안쪽으로 들어가 오래된 한옥과 주택, 작은 가게와 담장, 그리고 오랫동안 사람들이 살아오며 만들어온 생활의 흔적을 천천히 둘러보았습니다. 이곳의 한옥들은 관광을 위해 새롭게 꾸며진 공간이라기보다, 사람들이 실제로 살아오면서 고치고 덧붙여온 집들이 많습니다. 그래서 골목을 걷다 보면 전통적인 한옥의 형태 위에 현대적인 창문과 대문, 증축된 공간들이 자연스럽게 더해진 독특한 풍경을 만날 수 있습니다. 낡은 담장과 기와지붕, 집 앞의 화분과 작은 계단, 오래된 간판과 골목의 생활 흔적까지. 화려하게 정돈된 한옥마을과는 다르지만, 오랜 시간 사람들의 일상과 함께 변화해온 서울의 또 다른 한옥 풍경이 이곳에 남아 있습니다. 골목을 따라 걷다 보면 동네 뒤편의 보문사와 주변의 조용한 풍경도 만나게 됩니다. 오늘은 보문동을 천천히 걸으며 오래된 한옥과 골목 안에 남아 있는 사람들의 삶의 흔적을 기록해봅니다. 오늘도 서울의 기억을 모아갑니다. Hello, this is Hidden Seoul. Today, we walk through Bomun-dong, an ordinary residential neighborhood in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. The neighborhood takes its name from Bomunsa, an old Buddhist temple located here. Parts of Bomun-dong were developed as a residential district in the 1930s, when many compact urban hanok homes were built in this area. Some of those houses have survived through decades of change, which is why old hanok can still be found throughout the neighborhood today. But these are not the large, carefully restored hanok often seen in famous tourist areas. Many of them are modest homes that have been lived in, repaired, extended, and adapted over generations. As we walk deeper into the neighborhood, traditional tiled roofs sit beside modern windows, metal gates, small extensions, flowerpots, and everyday objects. The result is a very different kind of hanok landscape — one shaped not only by history, but by the daily lives of the people who have lived here. Along the narrow alleys, we also find old walls, small neighborhood shops, low houses, and traces of everyday Seoul that have gradually disappeared from many other parts of the city. Our walk eventually leads toward Bomunsa, where the quiet streets and old houses meet one of the neighborhood’s long-standing landmarks. Today, we quietly walk through Bomun-dong and record the old hanok, narrow alleys, and traces of everyday life that still remain.
