Welcome back to the Drum Series! Today, we are entering the higher end of the Market with the Pearl Professional Series. And in one sentence: IT IS SUPERB! Check out the Drumset here: https://www.musix.com/ch/de/p/Pearl-P... First off, it is worth noting that the Professional Series has been abandoned by Pearl. Abandoned might actually be the wrong term, rebranded is more fitting. These days, you can find these drums within the Masters Maple Series. But we still have this one in stock, and I am going to tell you all about it today. So as always, let’s start with the specs. The drum set comes in a 5-piece configuration, consisting of: 10” + 12” Rack Toms, 14“+ 16“Floor Toms, and a 22“Kick. As you can see, this drum set follows the “octave rule” we first encountered with the Roadshow Series: for every two inches, the pitch of the drums change in one octave. The shells of this drum kit are fully maple. However, they are surprisingly thin, coming in at only 6 plies. Do not be fooled though, this does not mean that this drum set is a more gentle or quiet piece of kit. Quite the contrary in fact, the toms are absolute cannons and cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter. No wonder, maple is notorious for being one of the most balanced woods there is. It allows for an “in your face”-attack, while covering the full range of the frequency spectrum: crisp highs, smooth mids and a warm, rich bottom end. So, who exactly is this kit for? Based on the price and the fact that you get no hardware, it definitely is not for beginners. Instead, this drum set would be a great addition to a studio owner looking to have a solid, well sounding kit at their disposal that is able to cover any drummer’s demands, regardless of genre or playing style. The maple shells make this kit so versatile, that it is also a great choice for session drummers playing in various bands and not wanting to have different kits for different styles required. I could see this kit proudly owned by a jazz-enthusiast, as well as a hardcore death metal drummer. Pros: full Maple Shells offer a great sound and versatility across all genres beautiful paint finish allowing the shell’s grain to shine through EXTREMELY easy to tune top notch hardware for a smooth handling when changing heads Cons: no tom arms included!!!
