A BMI of 23.4 = healthy, but the metabolic markers below put me at Skinny Fat or TOFI (Thin Outside, Fat Inside). This is the dangerous; invisible to the naked eye, VISCERAL fat, deep inside, wrapped around vital organs like the liver and heart. My Metabloic markers: Weight 55.5 kg / 122 lbs / 8 stone 7 = Reasonable - 2kgs / 4lbs to lose Height 5 ft 1/2 inch / 60.5 inches / 154cm Hip to waist ratio of 81.1 = moderate risk, Should be under 80 60.5 inches tall and a 30.5 inch waist = ration of 0.51. Increased risk. Should be between 0.4 and 0.49 Very high cholesterol at 7.2 should be below 5.0 Very high LDL 5.3 - should be below 3.0 Triglycerides 1.37 and HDL 1.6 Higher end but within range. Ratio of .86 = healthy HbA1c 40 / 5.8 which in the US and Australia is in the pre-diabetes range. UK NHS guidelines bizarrely consider this to be just within range. 42 / 6.0 is UK pre-diabetes. All of this despite: A healthy, whole food diet with little to no UPFs, no junk food, no takeaways, no alcohol, no smoking reasonable fitness and being within 2kgs of my ideal weight. This is NOT ABOUT LOOKS its about being unhealthy on the inside and I am going to fix this!!! Come and join me on a health and fitness journey as I re-start the Couch to 5k program and use it to help to reverse my broken metabolic health.
