Egtvedpigens Sang (The Egtved Girl's Song) is a modern song made for and by the cultural center and museum of Vejle commune, as part of the "Me and the Egtved Girl" project, wherein everything about the archeological find would be shown off. The Egtved girl is one of Denmark's most famous grave finds from the Bronze Age. She was 18-19 years old at death, and DNA analysis showed that she did not have origins in Denmark. It was a mystery for a while where she was from, until 2015 where further analysis confirmed she was from modern day Southern Germany, around the Alps. It is generally believed that she was brought to Denmark after being married off to a powerful warlord, as part of a strategic alliance between the proto-Danish and proto-German realms. The journey northward would be perilous, and it is believed she died of sickness shortly after arriving. The grave itself is fascinating due to the well preserved items found in it. Most notably, a crop-top dress, which upended previous understandings of fashion culture and history during the bronze ages. Egtved is a village in Denmark, part of the Vejle commune.
