The North Sea and Baltic Sea are vital for marine life, clean energy, food security, and coastal economies — but pressure on marine space is growing. How can we protect nature while producing renewable energy and sustainable seafood?
In this video, ULTFARMS partners and stakeholders share how the project is developing innovative ocean multi-use solutions by integrating low-trophic aquaculture — including seaweed, mussels, and oysters — within offshore wind farms.
Through pilots across the North and Baltic Seas, ULTFARMS is testing nature-inclusive, low-carbon approaches that bring together aquaculture, offshore wind, research, policy, and industry. From challenging offshore conditions to logistics, safety, and stakeholder cooperation, the project is demonstrating how shared marine space can support both environmental restoration and sustainable blue economy growth.
Together, #ULTFARMS is helping shape a future where healthy seas, renewable energy, and sustainable food production can thrive side by side.
