Deric Augustine: From New Orleans to 'The Rookie' – A Conversation on Ambition, Craft, and Dreams

I had the pleasure of chatting with Deric Augustine, who’s currently making waves in The Rookie and The Family Business New Orleans. As I was diving into both shows, I realized Deric’s been grinding in this industry for over 10 years, and the more I learned about his journey, the more impressed I became. He’s not just an actor—he’s a writer, an entrepreneur, and a creator with big aspirations. Beyond his impressive roles on screen, Deric has authored a novel, GNA Orleans, a YA fantasy about Black wizards in New Orleans. He’s also got a production company and plans to direct, shadowing directors on The Rookie and pursuing directing classes. His passion for his craft and his relentless pursuit of greatness is truly inspiring. We talked about his career, his roots in New Orleans, and how he’s navigating the ups and downs of the industry with ambition and heart. It’s clear that for Deric, the journey’s just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where it takes him next.
