Extremely Rusty WW1 Butcher Bayonet Restoration

In this video, I restore an extremely rusty German WW1 Butcher Bayonet (S98/05) that I found with my metal detector on a World War I battlefield. This bayonet was in terrible condition after spending more than a century in the ground. Thick layers of rust covered the blade, and the original wooden handle had almost completely rotted away. During the restoration, I carefully removed the heavy corrosion and discovered a marking revealing that the bayonet was manufactured in 1915 — 111 years ago! I also disassembled and repaired the locking mechanism, made new wooden handle scales, and replaced the damaged screws and heat shield. My goal wasn't to make this bayonet look brand new. I wanted to preserve its historical character, including the scars left by more than a century of corrosion, while bringing this forgotten battlefield relic back to life.
