A Beautiful Summit in Norway — But Our Second Peak Had Other Plans

Join us for a beautiful mountain day in Jotunheimen National Park, Norway, where we climb Stetinden (2020 m) and attempt a second summit later the same day. Stetinden is one of the easier 2000-meter peaks in Jotunheimen and can be reached from the DNT cabin Leirvassbu. The climb takes around 2.5–3 hours to the summit and offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. After reaching Stetinden, we decided to continue our adventure and try to climb Kyrkja (2032 m) in the evening to experience the sunset from high altitude. However, the mountain had other plans. At around 1920 m we reached an exposed section that surprised us, and with darkness approaching we made the decision to turn back. Sometimes the best mountain decisions are the ones where you choose safety over the summit. Even without reaching the second peak, it became a memorable day in the mountains.
