Caribbean culture took over the heart of Times Square for Tropicalfete’s 5th Annual Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival! 🇯🇲🇹🇹🇧🇧🇬🇾🌴 The streets of New York City came alive with Caribbean music, colorful carnival costumes, steel pan, Moko Jumbies, dancing, flags and plenty of Caribbean pride. I also spoke with people in the crowd about the islands they represent and what it means to see Caribbean culture celebrated right in the middle of Times Square. Soca star Rupee closed out the celebration with a live performance and was honored with special proclamations recognizing his contributions to music, Caribbean culture and HIV/AIDS advocacy.
