The spirits are locked behind a quest now — and they finally sound like four different people.
Last update ManaBat got a beginning, a middle and an end. The gap was that the middle never asked anything of you: every element was handed over up front. This time you start with ONE spirit and
earn the rest by finding shrines out in the world, the dialogue banks were thrown out and rewritten from scratch, and the run closes on a celebration whose conversation is chosen from what you actually did. Plus the first real Windows and Linux builds — and the three bugs that only a build could ever have found.

WHAT'S NEW
⚔️ THE SPIRIT QUEST
You start with one spirit. The other three are bound to shrines you have to find and release, so
combat grows as you explore instead of arriving complete. The open world finally has a reason to
be walked.
🗣️ FOUR VOICES, NOT ONE
The first dialogue pass produced four characters who described their personalities instead of
having them. All of it was rewritten. They separate on mechanical markers, not attitude — Brine
uses no contractions, exclamations or questions; Cairn drops verbs and speaks in fragments;
Zephyr's sentences collapse under fear; Cinder interrupts himself. Each has a different humor
engine, not a different humor level.
🌳 AN ENDING WORTH PLAYING FOR
Slow motion on the killing blow, the camera leaves you for the World Tree, the four spirits
converge and orbit it while the Tree visibly recovers. Then you continue when YOU'RE ready — no
timer. The closing conversation is selected from your actual run stats, and a near-loss outranks
every other tone.
📊 REAL NUMBERS
Per-element damage, kills and casts, properly attributed — including the combined abilities, which
carry their own element and would otherwise have credited the biggest damage events in the game to
nobody.
🗺️ THE PAUSE MENU GREW UP
The equip menu is now the real pause, with a full-screen MAP tab and working SETTINGS. Plus a baked
mini-map that deliberately hides enemies and undiscovered shrines — a world-wide view would hand
over every ambush.
🔥 COMBAT GOT MEANER
A difficulty setting, real enemy tier variety, desperation scaling as a pod loses members,
per-attack swing motions across all 28 melee attacks, player hit-stun, and damage ranges that give
each weapon family its own character.
🏹 RANGED ENEMIES FINALLY BITE
They had never actually fired — their line of sight was blocked by the world's merged prop collider
and by their own allies. Air walls now stop shots aimed at the Tree, and spent projectiles linger:
blocked arrows tumble away on the wind, piercing shots embed and ride what they hit.
💥 THE FIRST BUILDS, HONESTLY
Three bugs the editor structurally could not have caught — a build that hung forever on "Generating
World", an entire HUD that was invisible because it had only ever been laid out on a 4K canvas, and
four victory spirits that rendered bright magenta.
