This video illustrates a conceptual slugging analysis during the startup
of an initially empty multiphase pipeline. Initially, liquid accumulates along the line particularly at the low point. As the production rate is ramped up, the accumulated liquid is swept out and arrives at the inlet facility as a large liquid slug.
This scenario highlights the importance of adequate separator surge volume and appropriate instrument and control design.
