#vikingmetal #epicrock #heavymetal #workoutmusic #vikingrock The inspiration for this song comes from Ásbyrgi Canyon, in Jökulsárgljúfur National Park in northern Iceland (part of Vatnajökull National Park), where there is a huge horseshoe-shaped gorge with cliff walls towering about 100 meters high, encircling the forest floor on three sides. Legend has it that this is a hoofprint from Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse. Odin, the Allfather of Norse mythology, is a god defined by restless seeking — for wisdom, for power, and for knowledge of fate itself. He sacrificed one eye at Mímir's well for a drink of cosmic wisdom, and hung himself from the world tree Yggdrasil for nine days and nights, pierced by his own spear, to gain the secret of the runes. He's a wanderer god above all, often depicted roaming the Nine Worlds in disguise as a grey-bearded, one-eyed traveler in a wide-brimmed hat, accompanied by his ravens Huginn ("Thought") and Muninn ("Memory"), who fly across the world each day and return to whisper everything they've seen into his ears. His two wolves, Geri and Freki, run alongside him and Sleipnir. Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse, born of a bizarre myth in which the trickster god Loki, shapeshifted into a mare, was impregnated by a builder's stallion and later gave birth to the foal. Sleipnir is described as the fastest and greatest of all horses, able to run across land, sea, and even through the air, and to travel between the worlds of the living, the dead, and the gods — Odin famously rides him down into Hel itself to consult a dead völva (seeress) about Baldr's fate. The eight legs are often read as a symbol of supernatural speed or shamanic flight, making Sleipnir less a mere mount and more a vehicle for crossing cosmic boundaries.
