What are nematodes and how do they damage plants? This video explains how these tiny eel worms cause heavy yield and crop losses in fruits and vegetables worldwide.
Root knot nematodes live in soil and attack plant roots. The larvae penetrate roots, start reproducing, and cause root galling. They suck water and nutrients from the root system, causing plants to suffer and show poor growth.
Bayer's solution combines two approaches:
1. Fluopyram - an active substance applied via drip irrigation that precisely targets the root system. Treated nematodes rapidly become paralyzed and remain needle-shaped until they die.
2. Bioact - a biological nematicide that destroys remaining nematode eggs. This fungus parasitizes eggs and prevents larvae from hatching and infecting new roots.
The result: healthy root systems that enable good plant growth and high-yield production.
