Flute music inspired by Japanese forests and quiet shrines. For focus by day and rest at night. New videos each week. A late-autumn night in a quiet mountain valley deep in an ancient Japanese cedar forest. A little right of center stands an old stone lantern, its weathered granite thick with green moss, and a single soft flame burns in its small window, warming the stone around it. Fallen crimson and orange maple leaves cover the moss and the stones at its foot, and a branch of vivid red maple reaches in from the upper right. To the left the valley opens out: tall dark cedars and forested slopes fade into drifting mist, and cool silver moonlight falls from the upper left in soft beams, with a few faint stars in the deep blue sky. One hour of a night by the stone lantern — twelve quiet variations, "A Flute by the Moonlit Stone Lantern." Tonight the shinobue flute leads, moving a little more lightly than usual, with a koto close beside it as it flows on; even and unhurried from beginning to end. For deep sleep, relaxation, quiet reading, and rest after a long day.
