WASH: Bringing Water, Sanitation, and Hope to the Daily Lives of Vulnerable Families in Maiduguri

Imagine if getting a drink of clean water meant standing in a long queue every single day. Imagine if using a toilet or washing your hands was not something you could take for granted, but a daily challenge that could put your family’s health at risk. For thousands of families living in camps in Maiduguri, this has been part of everyday life. With support from the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF), IOM is helping change that by improving access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene services for some of the most vulnerable families. It means shorter queues. Safer water. Better sanitation. Fewer health risks. And, importantly, a little more dignity in everyday life.
