🧪 BEST BOOKS FOR JEE CHEMISTRY — MAINS + ADVANCED Chemistry is probably the most unique of the three JEE subjects because it combines Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry — and yet there is one resource that remains important across all three: NCERT. But remember: NCERT is NECESSARY, but by itself, it is NOT SUFFICIENT for a serious JEE Main + Advanced preparation. In this video, I discuss the resources you can use to take your Chemistry preparation beyond NCERT and, more importantly, how you should actually use them instead of simply collecting books. 🧬 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY For Organic Chemistry, I discuss Problems in Organic Chemistry for JEE (Mains + Advanced) by M.S. Chouhan and Organic Chemistry by Solomons, Fryhle and Snyder. The idea is not to read every book cover to cover, but to use the right resource at the right stage and develop strong conceptual understanding along with problem-solving ability. ⚛️ PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY For Physical Chemistry, N. Awasthi is a great resource for structured problem practice once your concepts and basic theory are clear. Physical Chemistry rewards consistent problem solving, so the focus should be on understanding the concepts and then solving enough quality problems to develop speed and accuracy. 🧪 INORGANIC CHEMISTRY For Inorganic Chemistry, NCERT remains extremely important. Along with it, V.K. Jaiswal can be used for additional problem practice and strengthening your preparation. The key is not to replace NCERT, but to build upon it. 📝 YOUR NOTES ARE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE One thing I strongly recommend is NOT trying to make perfect notes on Day 1. Your notes should evolve with your preparation. Start with your basic class/coaching notes, then gradually add important insights, mistakes, reactions, shortcuts, exceptions and concepts you discover while solving problems or studying your reference books. By the time JEE approaches, your notes should become a compact reflection of EVERYTHING important you have learned. And finally, don't underestimate Chemistry. Compared to Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry can often be a very rewarding subject for the time you invest — provided your preparation is systematic. A strong Chemistry score can save a huge amount of time and significantly improve your overall JEE performance. The goal isn't to finish 10 Chemistry books. The goal is to build ONE strong preparation system using the right resources.
