I wrote this song back in 2006 (if memory serves me right), specifically for a YouTube contest sponsored by TC-Helicon in Vancouver, B.C. Once written, I had to video the song being performed live (by me), using one of their new guitar/vocal harmony pedals. I actually won the contest for that specific week and was awarded a nice cash prize! This newer version is obviously, more fleshed out with additional instrumentation, with a video I made via Neural Frames in Berlin. I could have spent a wee bit more time tightening up the timing, but as it was my first lyric style video, I was satisfied with how it turned out. Thanks for watching and listening! Storyboard: Indigo shadows stretch like desperate fingers across the narrow corridor as he strides, his boots striking a frantic, mechanical rhythm against the gale howling outside. The air tastes of iron and old frost, heavy with the grey dread of crashing surf. He clutches a silver compass, yet its brass needle is a dizzying dervish, spinning without sanctuary. Along the walls, ice crystals bloom into fleeting, frozen faces that dissolve into the gloom before they can speak. Beneath his weight, the floorboards liquefy into a rising tide of obsidian ink, the viscous pull of secrets kept too long. He refuses to look back at the suffocating dark, fixated instead on the heavy oak door where a withered winter wreath shivers in a draft of pine and regret. Reaching for a handle forged of shimmering, frozen light, he seeks the sharp sting of a sunless dawn. He stands poised at the threshold, a stark silhouette waiting to anchor his drifting spirit against the weight of a drowning memory, choosing the bite of the cold over the safety of the shadow.
