Lift Up Your Eyes!

Derived from Isaiah chapters 60 through 64 Rise up, Jerusalem, your light is near The Lord’s own brightness is emerging here Though thick spiritual darkness cloaks the earth His glory rises on you for miraculous rebirth Rise up, Zion, God Almighty calls your name The hills receive the people, to the Lord's great acclaim From faraway roads, your sons and daughters gather here The Lord has kept His promise, as hope replaces fear Lift up your eyes; let your heart be made wide The Lord is your light, and His Word is your guide From far shores, distant lands, your children draw near The song of redemption ringing steady and clear The gates swing open through night and through day All exiles return, intensely seeking Zion's way No more will the sun be the lamp that you need The Lord is your everlasting light indeed For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent For Jerusalem's sake will not be quiet Till her vindication like a torch blazes And all will witness how the Lord God amazes Lift up your eyes; let your heart be made wide The Lord is your light, and His Word is your guide From far shores, distant lands, your children draw near The song of redemption ringing steady and clear Who is this striding forth with garments stained red With strength for the battle and judgment ahead Messiah will trample down all injustice He sees Puts down the rebellion, will not be appeased Come rend the heavens; make the mountains quake The time at last for all the wicked to shake No one has imagined, no one has conceived Messiah's glorious arrival, loved by all who believed Remember, O Lord, how Your mercy was shown How You led us and called us Your very own Though we have wandered, Your kindness remains Turn back to Your servants, and heal all our pains Lift up your eyes; let your heart be made wide The Lord is your light, and His Word is your guide From far shores, distant lands, your children draw near The song of redemption ringing steady and clear We wait for you, and for your mercy plead Look upon your people, for we are in need O Lord our God, be our Savior indeed O Lord our God, be our Savior indeed
