Bengaluru - Ladakh Road Trip Day 18 | Finally Visited Khardungla Pass | Diskit Monastery

After an adventurous journey through the beautiful landscapes of Ladakh, Day 18 began on a relaxed note! ❤️ Since it was our second day of acclimatisation in Leh, we took it slow, enjoyed a peaceful morning at our room, and kick-started the day with some delicious hot Poha and tea. ☕ But the real adventure was waiting for us! 🏔️ CONQUERING KHARDUNG LA PASS – 17,982 FT We finally drove towards the legendary Khardung La Pass, one of the most iconic high-altitude mountain passes in Ladakh, at an elevation of approximately 17,982 feet (5,359 metres). The breathtaking mountain views, winding roads and challenging terrain made this drive an unforgettable experience. With snow-covered peaks and dramatic Himalayan landscapes all around us, every turn felt like a postcard moment. Reaching this iconic pass was truly a proud moment in our Bengaluru to Ladakh road trip! 🍜 HOT MAGGIE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! After experiencing the mighty Khardung La, we continued our drive towards Nubra Valley. On the way to Diskit, we stopped at a remote spot and enjoyed some piping-hot Maggi and tea. There's something special about having hot Maggi in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by nothing but nature! ❤️ 🛕 EXPLORING THE HISTORIC DISKIT MONASTERY Our next stop was the beautiful Diskit Monastery, one of the oldest and most significant Buddhist monasteries in the Nubra Valley, established in the 14th century. It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism and is perched dramatically on a hill overlooking the valley. The monastery is famous for its ancient architecture, colourful prayer flags and the magnificent Maitreya Buddha statue nearby, which overlooks the Nubra Valley. A beautiful place filled with history, spirituality and breathtaking views! After exploring Diskit Monastery, we headed back to our room, relaxed and called it a day to prepare ourselves for more adventures in Ladakh.
