The 25 Creepiest Scenes from 2010s Creature Features

The 25 Creepiest Scenes from 2010s Creature Features. Creature Feature films are often a combination of Animals Attack Films, Survival Horror Films and Eco-Horror Films and feature wildlife run amok (often through mutation) and aliens or monsters hunting humans. The 2010s were a better overall decade for horror than the 2000s, but still lacked the creepy horror aesthetic that was a calling card of 70s and 80s horror films. However, the decade did produce some classic horror films including Sinister (2012), The Conjuring (2013), It (2017) and Hereditary (2014) and saw creature features return to prominence. On the creature feature front, animals attack films dominated the subgenre again with alligator and crocodile attacks in The Pool (2018) and Crawl (2019). In addition, from The Reef (2010) and Bait (2012) to The Shallows (2016) and 47 Meters Down (2017) shark attack films were in abundance at levels not seen since the 1970s with the debut of Jaws (1975). And finally, wolves in Frozen (2010) and The Grey (2012), tigers in Burning Bright (2010) and a relentless and hungry bear in Backcountry (2014) and a mutant bear in Annihilation (2018) made up some of the more memorable creatures features of the decade. As for other subgenre themes, animal-like monsters hunting humans were present in Animal (2014), Dark Was the Night (2014) and Primal Rage (2018) while alien-based monsters made a surprising return to the subgenre in Attack the Block (2011), The Thing (2011), Prometheus (2012) and A Quiet Place (2018). In this video, we'll look at the 25 creepiest scenes from 2010s Creature Features including an obscure Polish dark fantasy musical with mermaids hungry for human flesh, a few folk horror films that feature creatures of lore from the Krasue to Moder and a variety of nature-based creature features with humans on the menu for tigers, sharks and crocodiles.
