The 25 Creepiest Scenes from Recent Creature Features

The 25 Creepiest Scenes from Recent Creature Features. Creature Feature films are often a combination of Animals Attack Films, Survival Horror Films and Eco-Horror Films and feature wildlife run amok (often through mutation) and aliens or monsters hunting humans. Recent creature features from 2020 – 2025 saw a return of ‘quality over quantity’ for the subgenre. Though the early years of the 2020s didn’t have the quantity of films compared to other decades, it more than made up for it with some classic horror films featuring memorable creatures. Underwater (2020), Malignant (2021), Barbarian (2022), Godzilla Minus One (2023) and Alien: Romulus (2024) were just a few of the decade’s creature features that quickly became noted classics of the subgenre. Unlike previous decades, alien-based monsters hunting humans was the notable theme of the subgenre in films such as Sputnik (2020), Nope (2022), Kids vs. Aliens (2023), No One Will Save You (2023) and Arcadian (2024). Animals attack films also were prominent during these years with shark attacks in No Way Up (2024), The Last Breath (2024) and Under Paris (2024), creepy spiders in Infested (2023) and Sting (2024) and hungry lions in Rogue (2020) and Beast (2022). And finally, Werewolf Films saw a return to glory throughout the first half of the decade in Bloodthirsty (2021), Werewolves Within (2021), The Cursed (2021), Werewolf by Night (2022), Wolfkin (2023), Werewolves (2024) and Wolf Man (2025).
