The 1940 Tacoma Narrows footage shows a bridge moving in a way its designers could not accept. Explaining that motion requires more than repeating the word resonance. We follow the slender original span, the distinction between vertical movement and torsion, and the feedback between a moving deck and the surrounding airflow. Qualitative physical models make the different behaviour visible; they are not a numerical reconstruction of the collapse. The archive film remains the direct record of the event. Later photographs and the replacement structure show how the lessons were built into a different design. The central question is how wind can supply energy to motion, and why a stable crossing depends on more than simply making its parts strong. Locally generated reconstructions and authored Blender animations illustrate unavailable views and mechanisms; they are not original event recordings. The 4K file is an upscale of a 1080p edit, with original source resolutions varying. Voice and music retain the channel’s established identities. #TacomaNarrows #Engineering #Physics
