Ambira High School Parents challenge 50 M fine for students damage to property in strike

Ambira High School Parents Have sued the School's principal for what they call a punitive fine to grade 10 learners following a staged strike by form four students in the school. Allegedly, the form four students went on strike after demanding to be given leakage to the Kenya National Examination Council (KCSE) Examination by the school's administration, a demand which was declined by the school. After assessment, the School's administration ruled that the strike costed the school a damage worthy, Ksh 50 million. The School's administration then demanded that each student pays a total of Ksh 33,000 as fine for the damages. It is this fine that the parents are disputing saying it is unreasonable given the fact that there was no damage caused to the school by the students. The parents have asked Court to intervene and declare the decision by the principal and the entire administration to demand Ksh 33,000 from the students as illegal, null and void
