I grew up in Peebles, and I thought I knew it. Then I started digging. In Part 1 of my hometown film, I walk the streets of Peebles in the Scottish Borders and uncover the stories most visitors never hear: the medieval church built over what may be Santa's bones, Oliver Reed’s legendary armchair at the Crown, the ghost of Meg Dods at the Cross Keys, the explorer who worked as the town doctor and the mills that built the town. Along the way I meet the family businesses that keep the High Street alive, and I share a few embarrassing memories of my own. At the end of Part 2 Peebles becomes the first town in the Borders Scorecard. Can anywhere beat it? 📍 Part 2 is coming soon. Subscribe so you don’t miss it.
