A Gospel Shaped Life Found in the Creeds | Cory Willson

What does it mean to say “We believe” if our lives aren’t being shaped by Christ? In this interview, Cory Willson, Professor of Missiology, World Christianity, and Public Theology at Calvin Theological Seminary, joins Phillip Palacios, Director of Communications, for a wide-ranging conversation on the Nicene Creed, the church’s mission, and why doctrine must be more than correct words on paper. Recorded during Calvin Theological Seminary’s 150th anniversary, Cory explores how the Nicene Creed emerged from real challenges facing the early church, and how its theological clarity still matters for faithful witness today. The discussion connects creeds and confessions to lived discipleship, warning against “dead orthodoxy” and calling the church into a “dialogue of love” with culture, anchored in Scripture, open to learning, and shaped by the fruit of the Spirit. You’ll also hear how Calvin Seminary equips leaders for a global church, forming students from dozens of countries and denominations to engage their contexts with theological wisdom and missionary posture. In this video, you’ll hear about: What missiology is and why mission shapes theology Why the Nicene Creed matters for faith and human flourishing The danger of doctrinal precision without Christlike life A “dialogue of love” approach to culture and public theology How Calvin Seminary forms leaders for the church’s mission today 🎧 This conversation is part of The Forum Podcast, a production of Calvin Theological Seminary. #NiceneCreed #Missiology #WorldChristianity #PublicTheology #ReformedTheology #CalvinSeminary #ForumPodcast #ChurchMission ------ Calvin Seminary Website - https://calvinseminary.edu/ Programs Overview - https://calvinseminary.edu/seminary-p...
