WE LEAVE HOME TO SURVIVE… BUT WHAT DOES IT COST US? 💔🇿🇼🇬🇧🇺🇸 Behind every Zimbabwean living abroad is a story that many people never see. In this deeply personal and emotional video, I share my own experience and reflect on the sacrifices Zimbabweans in the diaspora make to support the people they love back home. We leave Zimbabwe hoping to build better lives, but sometimes the price is painful — missing birthdays, watching loved ones struggle with illness from thousands of kilometres away, sending money for medical bills, funeral expenses and family emergencies, and sometimes going into debt simply because family needs us. There are moments when you desperately want to come home, but you simply cannot. The emotional weight can be enormous: loneliness, guilt, depression, pressure to provide, missing your children and parents, and the pain of not being physically present when your family needs you most. Yet somehow, Zimbabweans keep going. We fall, we struggle, we sometimes break down — but we get back on our feet. We rebuild. We continue to support our families. We remain resilient. This video is not about judging those who left Zimbabwe or those who stayed. It is about understanding the human cost behind the Zimbabwean diaspora story. If you are a Zimbabwean living in South Africa, the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Europe or anywhere else in the world, you may see a part of your own story here. And if you have ever had to choose between being where your family needs you and being where you need to work to provide for them, this conversation is for you. 💔 Sometimes leaving home is not the end of the story. Sometimes it is the beginning of the hardest sacrifice. If this video speaks to you, share your experience in the comments. Someone reading your story may realise they are not alone. 🇿🇼 Zimbabwean Diaspora | Life Abroad | Family Separation | Leaving Zimbabwe | Diaspora Struggles | Supporting Family Back Home | African Diaspora #ZimbabweanDiaspora #ZimbabweansAbroad #Zimbabwe #DiasporaLife #LifeAbroad #LeavingZimbabwe #ZimbabweansInSouthAfrica #ZimbabweansInUK #ZimbabweansInUSA #AfricanDiaspora #DiasporaStories #FamilySeparation #ZimbabweDiaspora #Resilience #MentalHealth#relocation
