Oasis Location: East Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A Venue: East Continental Airlines Arena Date: 12th January 1998 Source: Audience Recording Staying in New Jersey, Oasis go from playing one of the smallest venues of the tour in Pittsburgh to one of the biggest, as they play the huge East Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, which holds around 20,000 seats. It doesn’t seem like they sold out, but it doesn’t matter as the audience here are hyped to see the group play. While the performance for me is one of the weaker ones from this American Tour it is still very good regardless. Liam sounds a bit more inconsistent on a song or two (especially on Be Here Now and It’s Getting Better Man) but as for the rest of the set, he sings well, and leagues above his disaster at Camden days before. The rest of the band are tight as nails and Noel plays well throughout this gig (though starts to have a few sticky moments from Live Forever onwards) particularly on that opening riff of Supersonic. The band seem to be in a really great mood though and though it may be seen as a bad thing, the double time jam in Champagne Supernova goes on extra long tonight. An audience shot film exists of this gig, filmed from Roll With It onwards and is a great watch. When Noel does fuck up, or Liam messes up a lyric like in Cigarettes & Alcohol the smiles are priceless. Noel continues playing his To Be Someone cover tonight, and it goes down a treat tonight. Perhaps not the best of the leg, but certainly one of the most laid back ones which is great all of the same. I’m sorry I didn’t include the soundcheck this time around. But I couldn’t find a download of it still active. But when I do, i’ll give this one a re-up.
