Are We Thinking About Women's Health Too Late? | Pregnancy & Heart Health
We talk a lot about pregnancy and the health of the baby.
But what about the mother's health?
In this episode of The ViVa, I sit down with Jasmine Kiley, a PhD researcher in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Cambridge, to explore women's health through the lens of pregnancy and cardiovascular health.
We discuss why heart health matters during pregnancy, why the period after birth can be particularly important for women with heart conditions, and why women's health needs to be considered beyond pregnancy itself.
Jasmine also explains her research on postnatal care and preconception health, including what researchers are learning about how to better support women before, during and after pregnancy.
We also explore the wider questions around women's health, healthcare and research and what Jasmine's work could mean for the way women are supported throughout their health journey.
As always, The ViVa aims to make research simple, engaging and accessible, so that complex ideas can be understood by everyone.
