दुष्ट साथीबाट सावधान (Beware of Mean Friends) प्रसिद्ध नीतिकथाको संग्रह हितोपदेशमा आधारित एउटा शिक्षाप्रद लोककथा हो। यस कथामा मदोत्कट नामको सिंह, उसका स्वार्थी सहयोगीहरू र सुरक्षा खोज्दै जङ्गलमा आइपुगेको एउटा निर्दोष ऊँटको कथा प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ। सिंहले ऊँटलाई संरक्षण गर्ने वाचा गरे पनि सिंहका स्वार्थी साथीहरूले आफूहरू भोकाएका बेला ऊँटलाई नै प्रयोग गरेर खाने षड्यन्त्र गर्छन्। अन्ततः उनीहरूको छलकपटका कारण निर्दोष ऊँटले आफ्नो ज्यान गुमाउँछ। यस कथाले मित्रता, निष्ठा, स्वार्थ र छलकपटका बारेमा महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा दिन्छ। हामीले आफूलाई साँचो माया र सहयोग गर्ने असल साथी र आफ्नो स्वार्थका लागि मात्र नजिक हुने कपटी साथीबीच फरक छुट्याउन सक्नुपर्छ। कथाको शिक्षा: स्वार्थी र कपटी मानिसहरूलाई साथी बनाउँदा सावधान हुनुपर्छ। साँचो मित्रले हाम्रो हित र सुरक्षाको ख्याल गर्छ। 'Beware of Mean Friends' is a traditional Indian folktale from the 'Hitopadesha', a famous collection of moral stories. The story tells about a lion named 'Madotkata', his selfish followers, and an innocent camel who enters the forest seeking protection. Although the lion promises to protect the camel, the lion’s mean and selfish companions make a clever plan to use him as food when they become hungry. The story highlights the dangers of trusting false friends and teaches us to choose our friends carefully. It gives a valuable lesson about friendship, loyalty, selfishness, and deception. Moral of the story: We should beware of selfish people who pretend to be our friends.
