💙 About This Song
System Check” began in February and was rewritten in June from a different place within me. It became a reflection of learning to check my own internal state before deciding what a connection means. I was realizing that calm doesn’t equal boredom, silence doesn’t automatically equal absence, and intensity isn’t the only evidence that something is real. Instead of chasing certainty or building futures from possibility, I was learning to notice what happened in my own body. Was I bracing, racing, reaching, or could I simply breathe? This song captures the shift from needing an outcome to trusting myself within whatever unfolds. I can feel something without forcing it, remain open without chasing it, and allow what is mutual to reveal itself naturally. If it grows, it grows. If it doesn’t, I’m still whole. Everything online.
“System Check” is about turning discernment inward before making meaning out of anything external. The opening, “I don’t confuse calm with boredom. I don’t confuse silence with absence,” reflects a real shift in how I read connection. I no longer need intensity, urgency, or constant movement to prove that something is alive. If something is steady, I can let it breathe long enough to reveal what it actually is.
The line “My body ain’t bracin’. My mind ain’t racin’. That’s new” is one of the clearest markers of that change. The transformation is not that another person suddenly became perfect. It is that I noticed myself responding differently. My body was not preparing for impact. My mind was not running ahead trying to decode every possibility. I could stay present without trying to secure an outcome.
That is why the hook feels almost like a diagnostic: “No chasin’. No force. Just steady… on course.” The result of the system check is not whether the connection works out. It is whether I remain clear, regulated, and connected to myself while it unfolds. “If it grow… it grow. If it don’t… I’m fine” is not indifference. It is trust in my own wholeness regardless of the outcome.
“I don’t build futures off potential statements” takes that clarity into reality. Possibility is not commitment. Words are not always movement. Feeling is not structure. I can recognize what I sense without turning possibility into certainty, and I can remain open without doing both people’s walking.
The breakdown brings the whole song together: “I trust what stays. I trust what settles. I trust what lets me breathe.” I do not need noise to convince me something is real. Peace can be information too. “Everything online” means my heart can stay open, my mind can stay clear, my body can stay regulated, and something outside of me can still be undecided. That is the system check.
Listen. Reflect. Receive.
