Hope in the Drylands: Women Using Solar Power to Support Their Families

In Gandhile, Ethiopia, members of the Robaf Nagaa Business Group share how life shifted after years of drought, hunger, and losing all their livestock. Through Green REAP, they learned how to save, run a business, and assess markets. This support helped them start a small solar-charging business that now earns income, covers food and medical needs, supports their children’s school costs, and enables them to buy livestock. The solar station also serves the whole community with phone charging and household lighting. The group explains how environmental training encouraged them to protect trees and plant new seedlings.
