The universe is 13.8 billion years old. So the farthest we should be able to see is 13.8 billion light-years. But the real answer is 46.5 billion light-years in every direction, which gives our observable universe a diameter of roughly 93 billion light-years. That should be impossible. It isn't, and the reason changes how you think about distance itself. In this Hindi documentary we travel out to the edge of everything we can ever see. We start with the number that shouldn't work, and the answer hiding inside it: light didn't break any rule, the road underneath it kept growing while it travelled. Then we reach the oldest light in existence, the cosmic microwave background, released 380,000 years after the Big Bang when the universe finally became transparent. And we explain why that is not a wall of stone or distance, but a wall made of time. There is simply no older light that could ever reach us. Beyond that edge, the universe carries on. Some estimates say it is at least a hundred times larger than the part we can see, and it may well be infinite, since measurements of the curvature of space cannot yet rule that out. Then we reach the second and far heavier boundary, the cosmic event horizon, beyond which light leaving today will never reach us, not in a trillion years. Galaxies you can photograph tonight have already crossed it. What you are seeing is their old light, and nothing they emit now will ever arrive. Which means our sky is slowly emptying. We also explain why the Big Bang had no centre, why it happened everywhere including exactly where you are sitting, and how something can be finite yet have no edge at all. And we finish with the strangest realisation of all: some questions are not merely unanswered, they are permanently unanswerable, not because our instruments are weak but because of the structure of space itself.
