Who Are the Heavenly Beings in God's Divine Council? | Psalm 82 Explained

Who stands in the divine council described in the Bible? Why does Psalm 82 speak of an assembly—and why does its judgment focus on the weak, the fatherless, and the poor? In this original Bible Explainer, we follow the prophet Micaiah before two kings, Job's unseen heavenly gathering, Isaiah's throne vision, the Song of Moses in Deuteronomy 32, the different interpretations of Psalm 82, and Jesus' reference to that psalm in John 10. We distinguish what the biblical passages actually say from the interpretations people offer. Along the way, we compare the heavenly-council and human-judges readings, and explain why the ancient manuscript variants in Deuteronomy matter without turning them into a conspiracy.
