Ezekiel's Wheels Explained: What Did the Prophet Really See?

A storm over the river. Four living creatures. Wheels within wheels, their towering rims filled with eyes. And above them all, a throne radiating glory. What was the prophet Ezekiel really describing? In this Beyond the Scroll Bible Explainer, we follow Ezekiel's vision from the Chebar waterway in Babylonian exile to the meaning of the moving throne. We look closely at the four faces, four wings, wheels and eyes—and ask why the whole vision arrives to a priest far from Jerusalem. We also compare Ezekiel's cherubim with Isaiah's six-winged seraphim and the living creatures in Revelation without treating every passage as a single picture. Along the way, we distinguish what the biblical text actually says from later interpretations.
