The Borg cube crossed into Federation space in 2366 and bypassed Utopia Planitia entirely, the largest shipyard in Starfleet, undefended and full of advanced technology. A collective obsessed with efficiency ignored the richest target in the sector and sprinted straight for Earth. That single detail doesn't fit everything we've been told about why the Borg came. Because if you trace every major encounter, from "Q Who" to Wolf 359 to the Borg Queen's obsession with Seven of Nine, one pattern keeps repeating: something has been protecting Earth since before the Collective even knew it existed. Humanity may never have been the prize. It may have been the bait.
If the Borg were really hunting something else, does that make humanity's survival a victory, or just a side effect?
