Manipur Tensions Rise: Naga Teen Killed, Kuki-Naga Conflict Deepens | News9 Manipur has witnessed another killing amid renewed tensions between Naga and Kuki communities. Seventeen-year-old Naga youth NK Wiphenbou was shot dead in Tamenglong district on September 21 while travelling towards Tamei, according to police and local reports. The United Naga Council has alleged the involvement of Kuki militants, while Kuki representatives have rejected the allegation and pointed to possible involvement of NSCN-IM cadres. The competing claims have not been conclusively established, and the investigation into the killing is underway. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and former Chief Minister N Biren Singh have condemned the killing and called for those responsible to be brought to justice. The latest incident comes after a series of attacks in Manipur’s hill districts, adding another layer to the state’s already complex ethnic conflict.
