BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 1990's
Reading Station (West End) on 22nd May 1999
Upon trawling through my next video, I discovered a time shift, going backwards to 22nd May 1999, I had forgotten that I had this clip, where I had spent more time at Reading Station viewed from the Cattle Pens to the West of the platforms, capturing a few Thames Turbo's (165/166) entering the station and departing. In addition to the normal Thames Turbo's were HST's, mainly in the new GW livery and a class 47 on a Poole to The North, Cross Country service, which ran round in the station. A special Steam tour paused and set off from Platform 8 bound for Dorridge via Swindon and Gloucester. This railtour was hauled by Steam Locomotives 80079 and 80098 and ran as "The Inter City Tanks" organised by Past Time Rail. This tour originated from Finsbury Park and returned later the same day as the outward route. Enjoy the unspoiled view of the station from the coming electrification, an absolute different view than it is today... If you enjoy the video please like and subscribe. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and skylines that have also disappeared. Many thanks to all subscribers and for the likes, also to all those viewers whom over the years have kindly shown an interest in my material.
