Today I chased BNSF's Third La Mirada Roadswitcher, R-CAL0091, on its unique journey through the industrial trackage of the North Vail Lead, in the City of Commerce. Today's train wears two hats, one of being a hauler for cars for the North Vail Lead, to be dropped for an evening job to spot at the customer of the North Vail Lead, and being a direct switcher of customers on the Univar Lead. With a spotless Santa Fe Yellowbonnet, BNSF 196, on point, this train was a treat to see and chase in this industrial switching district. Today's run featured a heavy load of cars for a plethora of industries, they diverged onto the lead at CP Bandini, and headed up the lead. They dropped their non-univar lead cars on a siding, allowing me to relocate to the top of the North Vail Loop to get a unique head on shot. I then followed them counter-clockwise around the loop, where they picked up one more load for Univar on a siding by Malt Ave. They then shoved onto the Univar Lead, dropped one hopper at American RENOLIT Corporation, and then commenced a long switching session at Univar. Univar lacks the capability to switch large cuts of cars around the industry, so the BNSF train works as the main switcher. Once the switching was complete, the train backed into the industry out of view, and tied up for the evening job to take over, where the power would re-emerge, and switch the cars for the Vail Loop that the 3rd La Mirada Dropped off earlier in the day. Thank you for watching! Train ID: BNSF R-CAL0091-03I Head End: BNSF 196~GP60 BNSF 127~GP60M-3
