A shoulder subluxation can occur when the shoulder joint partially slips out of its normal position, commonly seen in patients with weakness or paralysis of the arm, including after a stroke.
In this video, the Sukoon Nilaya Palliative Care team demonstrates a simple improvised sling using a dupatta/cloth to provide support to the affected arm and shoulder.
This technique can help caregivers provide additional support during daily care and movement.
❤️ At Sukoon Nilaya, we believe that small, simple caregiving techniques can make a big difference to a patient’s comfort, dignity and quality of life.
Important: This demonstration is for caregiver education. The sling should be applied gently and should not be used as a substitute for assessment by a qualified healthcare professional. Avoid pulling or lifting the affected arm by the hand or wrist.
