A surprise snowstorm turned our spring cycling trip into something unforgettable.
We begin with a walk through Lunenburg, Nova Scotia--its bold buildings and snow-covered waterfront were too beautiful to pass up. Then, we set off from Mahone Bay to Brooklyn, cycling 65 km along the Trans Canada Trail.
Most of our ride follows the Lunenburg County Rail Trail and part of the Queens County Rail Trail. Beyond Brooklyn, the railbed continued but disappeared from our Trans Canada Trail map--remote, rough and full of character. We spotted deer, a porcupine, and signs of recent flooding: washed-out patches, debris, and standing water.
