Why do our parents look old at 60 while Western 60-year-olds are still working full days? Why do we fear whey protein but happily give our kids Pediasure and Complan? And why are coaches selling “churi” as a fat-loss plan?
In this episode I sit down with Dalwinder Singh, a natural bodybuilder from Somal Kheri (near Rara Sahib, Ludhiana). He has lived in Melbourne for 8 years, works full-time, has a family of four, is a certified personal trainer, won gold in 3 categories at his first ICN competition, and is the founder of Beyond Physique.
We break down the typical Punjabi plate, how much protein you actually need, why besan chilla isn’t a protein source, the 1400-calorie trap, intermittent fasting, sleep and recovery, gym mistakes, ego lifting, and a sensitive but necessary conversation about food in our community, including langar.
We end with Dalvinder’s journey: a skinny kid training at 3:30am so nobody would laugh at him, who later stood on a podium in Australia wearing his village’s name on his shirt.
No quick fixes. Just knowledge, consistency and a plan you can follow for 10 years.
