1416 Frankston March 1992

Come for a ride on the 1416 Flinders St to Frankston service on Thursday 5 March 1992. Complete with a false departure from Flinders St and wheel flats and roving guard. Actually from Flinders St to Glenhuntley then Highett to Mentone then Carrum to Frankston, with the Stoney Point loco doing its runaround at the end. Originally shot, to film the upper quadrant signals from Richmond to Caulfield, with other sections added on, as time permitted with a 1.5 hr Video 8 tape and battery. Filmed through the 'guards side' window, as those days the video camera was a huge thing which wasn't able to be rested on the dash...so it was setup on the tripod looking out. I had done an edited version years ago, back when the Youtube screen size was about 2 inches big and there was a 10 minute / 100 mb limit on the size of the video. This is more fullsize but still furry as was transferred from the original Video 8 tape to DVD back in the early days of DVD recorders. Cab rides can also be boring in real time, but at least you now speed it up in the Youtube player.
